Warm and sunny weather made for perfect conditions for Litchfield Bancorp's 12th annual Community Day celebration June 2.

The bank's lawn and parking lot were turned into a carnival grounds featuring free entertainment and refreshments that drew a few hundred residents over the course of the three-hour event, which was established in 1996 to pay tribute to the community for its support of the bank.

"Once again, we are so proud to have held one of our most successful Community Days of the past 12 years," Litchfield Bancorp Vice President Paul McLaughlin said. "To see the smiling faces of everyone who attended was tremendous."

Highlights of the afternoon included performances by illusionist David Garrity, whose comedy and magic thrilled his audience, and the Forbes Flyers of Torrington. The Flyers, based at Forbes School, are an award-winning team of jump-ropers and they put on an impressive display of athleticism.

On the lawn at the front of the bank were two inflatable fun houses that had the children who ventured inside of them bouncing and laughing. There was plenty to eat, too, with free hot dogs, soda, snacks and snow cones available. Bank staffers showed their artistic side by painting children's faces.

In all, it was a day of family fun that met the bank's expectations.

"Giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding things Litchfield Bancorp is privileged and honored to do," McLaughlin said.
